Semester I introduces students to the fundamental concepts in key areas such as environmental studies, workplace communication, computer basics, mathematics, and essential software tools. Semester I Courses:

  1. BEVAE-181 Environmental Studies
    This course introduces students to the interdisciplinary field of environmental studies, covering topics related to environmental challenges, sustainability, and the role of technology in addressing environmental issues. Students will learn about global environmental concerns, resource management, and the importance of responsible human activities towards preserving the environment.

     
  2. BEGLA-136 English at the Workplace
    Focused on enhancing professional communication, this course emphasizes the importance of English language proficiency in the workplace. Students will engage with practical business English, learning how to communicate effectively in various professional settings, including meetings, reports, presentations, and email correspondence. The course also develops students' skills in technical writing and verbal communication, crucial for success in the IT industry.

     
  3. BCS-111 Computer Basics and PC Software
    This foundational course provides a comprehensive introduction to computers, covering both hardware and software essentials. Students will explore the components of a computer system, operating systems, and basic software tools. They will also get an overview of internet technologies and open-source software, which are integral in modern computing environments. The course prepares students for more advanced IT topics by establishing a strong understanding of the core concepts of computer systems and applications.

     
  4. BCSL-013 Computer Basics and PC Software Lab
    Complementing the theoretical knowledge from BCS-111, this lab course provides hands-on experience with key computer software and operating systems. Students will gain practical skills in using Windows and Linux, working with word processors (MS Word, OpenOffice), spreadsheets, presentations (PowerPoint), email management, and internet tools. The lab sessions foster the development of practical IT skills that students can apply in academic and professional environments.

     
  5. BCS-012 Basic Mathematics
    Designed to build the mathematical foundation required for IT-related problem-solving, this course covers essential topics in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and basic calculus. Students will also focus on applying mathematical principles to solve computing problems, laying the groundwork for more advanced studies in computer science and technology.
